What is Quebrantahuesos?
Spain 's largest marcha (sportive)
it is one of only nine UCI Golden Bike events
It is 205 km long with 3500 metres of height gained
8000+ participants
It is named after a local and very large bird of prey.
The route
The marcha is a breathtaking ride through the Pyrenees that will live in your memory forever. It begins in Sabiñánigo at 7.30 am and takes in Spain 's Col du Somport (1,640mt), France's Col du Marie Blanque (Cat 1) and Col du Portalet (1,795mt) before finishing back in Sabiñánigo. With ramps of up to 15% and category one TdF climbs, compact and triple chainsets are much in evidence!
The Finish
Once over the line, you will find a superbly organised area with unlimited free food and drink (including San Miguel!). There are plenty of masseurs ready to massage your sore legs and a secure parking area to leave your bike while you enjoy swapping stories and beginning the recuperation process.
ORGANISATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
The event takes place on closed roads with plenty of police and helpers to signal at roundabouts, crosses etc.
