The Vuelta a España 09 is coming to the Costa Blanca! 

Our Vuelta week offers you the opportunity to watch 3 stages of the Vuelta: two mountain top finishes & the individual time trial through the streets of Valencia city centre. plus 3 days of guided riding through the Marina Alta Mountains.

Two accommodation options are available to choose from:

Option 1 Stay at The Hotel Los Caballos with H/B beakfast                & eve meal

Option 2 Based on self cater accommodation at the Ciclo               Costa Blanca villa.

Both options include the same 3 days of Vuelta trips and 3 guided rides.

 

Week's itinerary: The Vuelta

· Friday 4th Sept - arrival at Alicante for transfer to the hotel or villa
( Earlier arrival/Depart days not a problem please just ask)

· Saturday 5 th - Transport in personal carrier to Valencia city center to watch the individual time Trial:

stage 7 Valencia - Valencia 30 kms. The thirty kilometer long individual time trial is run over the Formula 1 motor racing urban circuit. The race starts virtually at the seaside ( America 's Cup Dock), and runs the urban circuit to end back at the Formula 1 racing track finishing line .

Alto Aitana· Sunday 6th Mountain top stage finish

Stage 8 Alto Aitana, 1.455 mtrs (Special cat. climb). Ride part of stage to Mountain top finish, watch stage finish.

Xorret de Catí· Monday 7 th Mountain top stage finish

Stage 9 Xorret de Catí, 1.091 mtrs (1st cat. climb). Ride part of the stage to mountain top finish, watch stage finish.

 

Guided riding days

We have chosen the most scenic routes of the Marina Alta mountains.

A ll routes will offer the chance to see the Real Spain away from the busier coast line, plus the chance to ride more climbs from this year's 'Vuelta'.

Ride wil ldepart at approx. 10.00 hrs, for 4/5 hours, with café stop for lunch. Average ride distance 100km (62 miles) on varied terrain climbing from sea level to max of 800mtrs, and to 1.475 mtrs on Sunday 6 th (stage 8 of the Vuelta).

· Tuesday 8th - Col de Rates via Castell de Castells. Distance 93 km total ascent 1.163 mtr (Inc Alto Castells 800 mtrs from stage 8 Vuelta 09)


· Wednesday 9th - Val de Ebo via Alto Margarida. Distance 96 km total ascent 962 mtrs (09 Vuelta)
· Thursday 10th - Alto Bernia (Local mountain tt circuit) & Mnt Montgo. Distance 86 km total ascent 1131 mtrs

Alternative routes will be available offering an easier/harder ride.

Route maps with directions, profiles and useful info specific to each route. Info on local culture, agriculture & history offered whilst on route.

All rides will be guided by minimum of 2 experienced Ciclo Costa Blanca guides, vehicle back up in the event of a major mechanical break down, etc.

Of course all ride days are optional allowing guest the opportunity to relax at the hotel pool side, visit Denia, go to the beach, use Los Caballos other facilities, i.e. tennis, horseback riding, weight / fitness room, mountain bike hire and routes, local walks etc.
